See Talon Hardwood in the 2019 HGTV Smart Home.
Cabinets To Go was so excited to have one of our flooring brands, Talon Hardwood, featured in the 2019 HGTV Smart Home. Taking cues from Old World design, the 2019 Smart Home featured swanky décor and intriguing patterns combined with the latest in home-technology. Located in Dallas, Texas, the Smart Home offers the perfect cross between rustic style and modern design.
The 7-inch White Oak hardwood was used throughout the home in the Casablanca stain, giving the flooring a charming whitewashed appearance. The sultry tones of the home make Talon Hardwood in Casablanca the perfect neutral backdrop, creating a muted palette onto which dark and earthy colors could be played around with for patterned accent walls and colorful décor pieces.

A Kitchen Built For Efficiency
The theme of the kitchen in the 2019 Smart Home was attractive and functional. The soft color of the flooring allows for some colorful fun with décor details. The kitchen features a stunning breakfast table setup with a mismatch of unexpected seating options. A custom church pew, bright yellow round ottomans, and Parson-style dining chairs upholstered in a woven black plaid work surprisingly well together for a quirky yet stylish centerpiece to the room. The kitchen is not just beautiful – it is designed for efficiency. The 2019 Smart Home uses the benefits of modern technology to make cooking daily meals and entertaining stress-free and enjoyable. The layout is designed for easy traffic flow, with the cooking area and refrigerator within easy reach of the island and the sink. Just out of reach of the refrigerator is the long walk-in pantry, hidden from view by a stylish paneled door, but featuring functional open shelving for easy access to items once inside.
Kitchen of the Future
What really makes this Smart Home stand out is the state-of-the-art home technology used throughout the design. Innovative features to make every day domestic life easier are incorporated throughout this gorgeous kitchen. Talon engineered hardwood provides the look and feel of real hardwood with the durability to last generations. In independent third-party testing, Talon was determined to be 4X more durable than the other major hardwood flooring brands. An advanced heating and cooling system offers exceptional performance and ultimate control over an air purification and zoned comfort system. The homeowner can use an app on a smartphone, tablet, or a control panel on the wall to set and control temperatures in specific rooms. The stainless French-door refrigerator features a hands-free autofill setting that allows you to walk away while the dispenser automatically fills any container with filtered water. In additional hands-free technology, the vibrant stainless kitchen sink features a touchless pull-down faucet paired with a single-bowl sink with three graduated level in the basin to adjust accessories at your preferred height.
Design with Flair
Old World design elements are incorporated throughout the kitchen. Two custom-made light fixtures illuminate the breakfast area, while deep-emerald hexagon-shaped ceramic tiles adorns the backsplash and adds movement with a pop of color as the kitchen focal point. Talon was the perfect choice for these rooms, as it is the ideal combination of stylish and extremely durable. Nothing beats the look and feel of real hardwood. Large windows bring in immense amounts of light, but curtains have been strategically hung for turning the bright living room into a cozy TV-viewing theater. The room is equipped with smart-lighting capabilities, allowing the user to control the entry, kitchen, media room, and patio lights from any locations using a smartphone or tablet to create just the right ambiance for different occasions.
Environmentally Friendly Kitchen Design
The 2019 HGTV Smart Home was also designed with environmental conservation in mind. Sustainable design features are used throughout the house. Solar-powered smart skylights monitor temperature and bring fresh air and daylight into the home. Energy-efficient insulating glass was used for the windows in the main living room to minimize wasted heating and cooling. Talon Hardwood knows the responsibility they have to the planet as a producer of hardwood flooring. Talon harvests all of their wood using FSC-certified processes and make sure that their production process is fully sustainable. Even the sawdust that is created during production is compressed into a Fire Brick so that nothing goes to waste.
The Latest in Home Technology
The potential for in-home technology is fully explored in the 2019 Smart Home media room. The room features a surround-sound system, projector screen, source device that serves up the latest 4K and HDR video streaming, and smart lighting system. A deep-charcoal gray used for the wells and the solid soft gray plush carpet add coziness to the media room. The innovative design was done by Tiffany Brooks, of Tiffany Brooks Interiors. Based out of Chicago, her design firm is known for its bold style and uninhibited individuality, uncovering the flavor, the personification, and the soul of the home. Homes designed by Tiffany Brooks Interiors have been featured in various media outlets such as House Beautiful, HGTV Magazine, CS Interiors, Essence, Domino, and Architectural Digest. The beautiful design of the home is complemented by the innovative technology used throughout to make everyday living as uncomplicated as it can be and leave more time for enjoying the little things.
